Growing in Christ 🌱 Day 7: Trust like a tree

But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit. — Jeremiah 17:7–8 (NLT)

Jeremiah paints a vivid picture of what it means to trust in the Lord. He compares a person of faith to a tree firmly planted by a river. The tree’s roots go deep into the water, giving it constant nourishment, even in seasons of heat or drought.

In the same way, when our confidence is rooted in God, we are sustained by His living water (John 7:38). Our security does not depend on circumstances, finances, or feelings, but on the unshakable faithfulness of the Lord.

Unlike those who rely on themselves or the world, those who trust in God remain strong, fruitful, and steadfast—even in trials.

Reflection

To trust in God is to rest in His promises and depend on His faithfulness. Just like a tree draws strength from its hidden roots, our spiritual strength comes from a deep, abiding relationship with Christ.

Life will bring seasons of heat—pressures, trials, disappointments—but when your roots are in Christ, you will not wither. Instead, you will remain nourished, steady, and fruitful.

The Holy Spirit invites us daily to sink our roots deeper into God’s Word, prayer, and His presence. The more we draw from Him, the more we will flourish and become a testimony to His sustaining power.
