Scripture focus: Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven… Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. – Colossians 3:1–2
There was a season when I was overwhelmed by the weight of life’s responsibilities—work, expectations, the need to “keep it all together.” I found myself showing up for everything and everyone, but spiritually, I was barely present. I still believed in God, still prayed, but my thoughts weren’t anchored in Him—they were everywhere else.
I would wake up, grab my phone, rush to work, stress through my day, and crash in the evening—only to repeat it again. God was somewhere in the background, but not the center. My mind wasn’t fixed on heaven. My heart wasn’t surrendered to Christ in the everyday. And slowly, I felt it—an emptiness, a spiritual exhaustion that no productivity could fix.
It wasn’t until I hit a wall—a point where I had nothing left to give—that I finally cried out, “Lord, I don’t want to live like this anymore.” And lovingly, the Holy Spirit whispered:
“Set your heart on Me again. Invite Me in—daily.”
Staying heavenly-minded is something we all wrestle with. The world demands our attention constantly—but Scripture calls us to something higher.
Paul reminds us: You’ve been raised with Christ. That means our identity has changed—and so should our focus.
Being heavenly-minded isn’t about ignoring your responsibilities. It’s about inviting Christ into them. It’s not about perfection—it’s about daily surrender.
We need to choose daily to:
- Ask the Holy Spirit for help
- Feed our souls with God’s Word
Live like we truly belong to eternity
You don’t stay heavenly-minded once and for all—you become heavenly-minded daily by choosing God moment by moment.
Every decision… every conversation… every trial… is a chance to say,
“Holy Spirit, help me to see this from Heaven’s view.”
When we begin each day with Christ in our heart and eternity in our mind, everything changes:
- We work with excellence, as unto the Lord.
- We love without expecting praise.
We suffer with hope, knowing this isn’t the end.
Reflection Questions:
- Where do my thoughts naturally drift each day—heaven or earth?
- Have I made space for Christ in my heart today?
What does it look like for me to include God in my daily decisions?
Prayer
Father, thank You for raising me to new life with Christ. I confess that my heart and mind often wander, and I need Your help to realign them with what’s eternal. Teach me to live daily with Heaven on my mind and Jesus in my heart. I invite the Holy Spirit to lead me, to convict me, and to comfort me in every part of my life. May every thought, word, and action reflect my citizenship in Heaven. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
