Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. — 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)
Paul writes these words after pleading with God to remove his “thorn in the flesh.” Instead of removing it, God reminds Paul that His grace is sufficient, and His power is made perfect in weakness. This flips the world’s view upside down—where we see weakness as failure, God sees it as the very place where His strength can shine. True strength doesn’t come from self-reliance but from dependence on Christ.
Reflection
Weakness is not something to hide or be ashamed of—it is the soil where God’s power grows. Our struggles, limitations, and trials create space for God to demonstrate His strength in and through us. When we admit our need, surrender our pride, and lean into His grace, His Spirit empowers us beyond what we could ever do on our own. 🌱
This means we don’t have to strive to be strong in ourselves—we rest in the truth that Christ is strong in us. The world may see brokenness, but God sees an opportunity for His glory to be revealed.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your grace is more than enough for me. In my weakness, You are strong. Teach me to depend on You fully, and to boast not in my own strength but in Your power at work in me. May my life point others to the sufficiency of Christ. Amen
