Growing in Christ 🌱 Day 15 : Bearing fruit that lasts

Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. — John 15:5 (NLT)

In this verse, Jesus uses the imagery of a vine and branches to show us the life-giving relationship between Him and His followers. He is the true vine, the source of nourishment, life, and growth. We are the branches, completely dependent on Him. A branch separated from the vine cannot bear fruit—it withers. In the same way, without Christ, we cannot live fruitful, spiritual lives.

The fruit Jesus speaks of refers to the visible results of our connection to Him: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22–23). True fruit is not about performance or achievements, but about the character of Christ being formed in us and impacting others for eternity.

Reflection

Bearing fruit that lasts is only possible when we remain connected to Jesus. Abiding in Him means staying in constant fellowship—through prayer, worship, obedience, and dependence on His Word. Our strength does not come from striving harder, but from remaining rooted in Christ.

Ask yourself: Am I abiding in Jesus daily, or am I trying to live in my own strength?
Fruitfulness flows naturally when we are surrendered to Him. And unlike temporary successes, this fruit has eternal impact—transforming us and blessing others around us.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You that You are the true vine, and I am a branch in You. Teach me to abide in You daily, drawing my life, strength, and purpose from You alone. Help me to bear fruit that lasts—fruit that glorifies Your name and points others to Your love. Amen.
